About the Birth Assistant

Arianna Latimer, SM

Arianna Latimer is a Wyoming native and student at the Midwives College of Utah, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. Her education is grounded in evidence-based practice and a commitment to clinical excellence, which she brings to every family she serves in her home state.

Arianna's path to midwifery is rooted in her own birth story. Born at home into the care of a midwife, she grew up with a deep understanding of birth as a natural, transformative, and profoundly personal event. That experience instilled in her a lifelong respect for bodily autonomy and the power of informed choice, and it is the foundation of everything she brings to her work today.

As a birth assistant and student midwife at Origin Midwives, Arianna plays an essential role in supporting families throughout the home birth experience. She works alongside your midwife to provide continuous, hands-on care during labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period. This includes monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, assisting with comfort measures and positioning, preparing the birth space and supplies, and providing steady, reassuring support so that families feel safe and held throughout. Critically, Arianna also serves as a skilled second set of hands when urgent situations arise, assisting Kim in the rapid, coordinated response that safe out-of-hospital birth requires.

As a student midwife, Arianna is progressively developing the full scope of clinical skills practiced by her supervising midwife, including prenatal assessment, labor support, birth skills, newborn evaluation, and postpartum care. This apprenticeship model, in which a student learns by working directly alongside an experienced practitioner across the full continuum of care, is the traditional and time-honored way that midwives have been trained for centuries. Under Kim's direct mentorship, Arianna is building the clinical judgment and hands-on competence that will one day allow her to serve Wyoming families as a midwife in her own right.

Arianna's mission is to ensure that every family feels seen, heard, and empowered as they grow. She is honored to be training in the very community that welcomed her into the world, and to be part of expanding access to skilled, compassionate midwifery care across Wyoming.
