Kim Pekin, MS, CPM, CNM

Kim grew up in the Rocky Mountain region, living in South Dakota, Colorado, and Wyoming. She graduated from Glenrock High School and, after completing her Bachelor of Business Administration at Pacific Lutheran University, moved to Virginia in 1995. She earned her Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential in 2009 after completing an apprenticeship and graduating from midwifery school. After practicing as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) for over 10 years, she returned to school to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at George Mason University in 2022, and then a Master's of Science degree in Midwifery at Thomas Jefferson University in 2024. She became a Certified Nurse-Midwife in 2024 and briefly served people planning hospital births, and then returned to community birth midwifery practice. Kim is currently an adjunct professor and is enrolled at Thomas Jefferson University, working toward completion of her Doctor of Midwifery in May 2027, with a focus on health policy. After building a family and midwifery career in Virginia, she has finally returned to her beloved home state of Wyoming.

 

Kim is a dedicated mother of seven (two born at home with midwives) and a skilled midwife with nearly 20 years of experience. Kim has successfully operated two accredited birth centers in Virginia, helping thousands of families during their birthing journeys. Inspired by her own care with midwives, she believes that exceptional care requires taking ample time to listen to clients, build mutual trust, and create a strong relationship. Her approach is to provide family-centered care and help women see their power as mothers and as women.
